Just like any other holiday, the week following is always rough.  We're coming off of a major sugar high this week, not to mention this second pregnancy has me feeling less than stellar.  Soooooooo tired.  And big. 

Easter morning we opened our Easter basket brought by that famous bunny, followed by a Pinterest fail bunny pancake breakfast. 




Katherine picked out her own Easter dress this year with matching bunny purse.  She chose her own shoes to go with her ensemble.  To my surprise, she wore that white dress all day long and it was still white and clean at the end of the day. 


We headed to church, then to my parents' house for lunch and more egg hunting.  In my current condition, I was not going to a) cook Easter lunch, or b) host Easter lunch.  I barely got through Easter lunch without passing out.  I did provide the cheesy potato casserole though.



Easter is one of my favorite holidays.  It's up there with Christmas, actually, and it's becoming a favorite for Katherine as well.  Although as soon as Easter was over, she started planning her Halloween costume.  She is my child after all. 

 

We headed out to our local Easter egg hunt last weekend, and Katherine completely surprised us with her eagerness and determination "on the battlefield."  She is usually very reserved and timid when it comes to big groups of kids fighting over an object, but this year when the horn sounded, she raced forward, filling her basket with eggs at record speed.  We were so stunned that we barely got any photos of her, and we got no video at all. 

This kid was determined to get her eggs, but once her basket was full she proudly backed away and let the other kids gather their own eggs.  Such a good sport. 













I love this time of year, and Katherine's enthusiasm with the holiday makes it all that much better. 

We started our Easter celebration early in the week last week, dying our Easter eggs and immediately going outside to hide/find them.  The spring-like temps made for a fun Easter week, but alas Easter day was cold and rainy.  It's a good thing we spent so much time outside the week prior.

Katherine loved hunting eggs almost as much as she loves our dog, Sammie.  Sammie is such a good sport about it though.

On Saturday we headed to the city for the annual Easter egg hunt at my brother's church, where Katherine hunted even more eggs and met the Easter Bunny.




It's a good thing I opted for the cardigan for Katherine's Easter dress.  Easter morning was a bit on the chilly side.  I might add that Katherine picked out her entire outfit, including shoes and purse.  She was the hit of her Sunday school class.



We're now recovering from way too much Easter candy.  And hoping for the spring temperatures to return.

I had every intention of having a very productive week last week, until the sickness fairy paid us a visit.  Everyone in our house had the sniffles all week, and thankfully Katherine was feeling better by Easter weekend.

On Saturday we headed to my brother's church for an Easter egg hunt and a visit with the Easter Bunny.  Despite the blank look on her face throughout the following photos, Katherine actually did have a great time.  She was actually really excited about seeing the Easter Bunny as well.  She probably would've sat there on his lap all day if we'd let her.  But no smiles for the camera.  At all.  The church had a small bounce house set up for little kids that Katherine loved.  We actually couldn't get her out of it.  Jason almost had to crawl in and get her.





At the end of the day, she couldn't stop talking about Easter eggs, the Easter Bunny, the bounce house, and seeing her Mimi, Grandpa, aunt, and uncle.

The Easter Bunny came Sunday morning and left Katherine lots of goodies.  Jason was working on Easter again this year, so our "family" Easter picture was just Katherine and I.  We headed off to church, where we met my mom and dad.  Afterwards we hosted Easter lunch at our house when Jason got home from work.





You may have noticed Katherine is now wearing glasses.  At her two year check up, the doctor noticed one of her eyes moving in when she focused on things up close.  She's now wearing glasses to try and correct the problem.  Trying to get a toddler to keep their glasses on is no easy task.  She's done surprisingly well so far.  She also gets lots of extra attention when we go out in public.  Toddlers in glasses are an attention getter.

I'm hoping we have a sickness free week this week with lots of productivity, as we recover from our Easter excitement.

We're in full Easter prep mode over here, and with a week still left to go we've already dyed our eggs, made Easter treats, and bought our Easter dresses.  On the subject of dresses, I'll have to admit I don't shop very often and so I was a little surprised when I went to the mall the other day.  Can anyone tell me what has happened to fashion?  I'll admit that since leaving the workforce and having a child, I'm not up on the latest trends as I was before.  Every cute dress I found had the back completely cut out of it for some reason, shorts come in two styles:  middle-aged woman golfer or street walker, and I saw overalls for sale.  Overalls.  Overalls.  I dread what monstrosities will be popular when Katherine reaches the age to pick out her own clothes.

Anyway.

We made Rice Krispies Treats (using this recipe) the other night and I let Katherine help stir and add the the sprinkles.  She really thought she was something helping out in the kitchen.  She did a great job stirring and an amazing job pouring the sprinkles.  One half of the treats had plenty of sprinkles.




A few days later, we dyed Easter eggs.  I hadn't dyed eggs in probably 12 years, so I forgot how much those little color tablets reminded me of the chew-able Children's Tylenol tables my mom used to give me when I was sick.  Katherine wasn't impressed with the actual dying of the eggs, but give her some stickers and she'll go to town.  We were a little under the weather that day so Mimi helped out.



I always get excited to get our Easter decorations out each year, because that means we can finally add some color to the house.  I found these awesome candle holders for $3 in the Target dollar spot.


One of my favorite ways to decorate for Easter is to put some colorful plastic eggs in random glass containers.  It's easy and very inexpensive.

I'm so excited for Easter!  It's one of my favorite holidays, and I'm excited for Katherine to enjoy it this year.
