Summer Lately

It's hard to believe it's the middle of July already.  This summer seems to be flying by, probably because we've been busy settling into our new house.  We took a break from our normal activities for the summer so that we could actually have a relaxing summer.  Each week, I take Katherine on some kind of outing, whether it be a trip to the water park or a crafts class at Michael's

We invested in a blow-up pool for Katherine, which has been a blast in our now level backyard with plenty of sunlight.

We've had backyard picnics and lots of playtime outside with the neighborhood kids.

This week we celebrated our dog Callie's 10th birthday.  Katherine wanted to "plan" the party and immediately started making "lists."  I guess she's been watching her Mama too much.  Katherine insisted on making a yellow cake with chocolate icing with sprinkles.  She wanted party hats and small "dog cakes" for Callie and Sammie.  So, that's exactly what we did.  Katherine even made Callie a birthday card, which Callie was grateful for.   Callie got lots and lots of hugs on her birthday.  It was the cutest thing.

In addition to having lots of summer fun, we've almost got our living room/ foyer/ hallway painted.  If you follow me on Instagram, then you've seen some of our progress.  The new house is slowly coming together.

There's still plenty of summer ahead of us.  I look forward to more days of sunshine and smelling of sunscreen and bug spray at the end of the day.
