What's Up Wednesday
2:06 PMThe month of September can be perplexing. Everyone pretends it's fall, but the heat index is 104. The Halloween candy is popping up in the stores, but we're still wearing bathing suits and sunblock over here.
I love fall just as much as anyone. In fact I probably love it more than most, but I can't buy a pumpkin, decorate for fall, or have a pumpkin flavored anything until the temperature is below 70. However, that does not mean that we don't already have our Halloween costume squared away for this year. Because we do.
School has started back, which means Katherine and I can go out and about without the crowds of kids. This week, we took an impromptu girls' day trip to the Butterfly House and St. Louis Carousel. I realize that Katherine will start school next fall, so I want to take advantage of every day we have at home together until then.
Recently, Katherine has taken an interest in painting. It's probably due to her Rapunzel fascination. If you've seen the Disney movie Tangled, then you know that Rapunzel paints. So we must paint too.
In other news, I've had a cold for a week. Who has a cold in the summer? Me, apparently. It's September after all. The month of confusion. So what do I do when I have a low, raspy voice all week? Sing along to Sheryl Crow's sophomore album of course.
My newest television obsession is Chesapeake Shores on Hallmark. I only noticed this show when Jason made fun of it's preview during a commercial break of Home Improvement one afternoon. "What a dumb Hallmark show. Who would watch that?" Challenge accepted.
I'm ready for fall to actually begin. And for this cold to go away. Oh the irony.
