Year of Chocolate Desserts: June & July

It was back in January that I had the great idea to make all twelve of the "A Year of Chocolate Desserts" from my January/February issue of Everyday with Rachael Ray magazine.  I managed to make each month's dessert on time (even while being pregnant, giving birth, having an infant to care for, etc.), until now.  I'm not going to lie when I say I...

Your Guide to Reselling Your Stuff

I get asked occasionally about how and where to resell items that people have cleaned out of their house.  This is probably because I've worked in resale for the past four years.  I've worked in resale since 2009; for a for profit store then for a non for profit.  I was always amazed at what people would bring in to resell and the way they would...

Happy Birthday Callie

dog
On Saturday, Callie turned 7.  I've been feeling guilty lately because I'm afraid my dogs have been neglected since Katherine was born.  I try to spend as much time with them as I did before, but it's hard with an infant needing my attention 24-7.  I decided to do something nice for them for Callie's birthday and bake them homemade dog treats.  I used...

Water Baby

Our first trip to the pool didn't go as planned.  The water was cold, the air was chilly, and the sun refused to shine.  We're hoping for better weather next time.  But before we head back to Kennett for round two, we're practicing in our own private pool in the backyard.  Despite the look on her face, she is being placed gently in cool...

Sangria Mocktail

I'm always looking for mocktail versions of my favorite adult beverages.  My "virgin margaritas" on Cinco de Mayo were lacking to say the least.  So when I found a recipe for a Sangria Mocktail, I was ready to give it a try.  I found this recipe in the Wal-Mart circular last Sunday.  Random?  Absolutely.  Sangria Punch Mocktail What you need: 4 cups cold cranberry...

Fourth of July

Last Fourth of July I took my first pregnancy test on a whim...just to see.  This Fourth of July I'm celebrating not only our country, but my almost four month old's first Fourth.  What a difference a year makes!  Because I love celebrating holidays, we naturally had a selection of festive foods and home décor.  Not to mention, I've had Katherine's Fourth of July outfit...

Fourth of July Wreath

DIY
I decided to give wreath making another try.  This design was more my style, requiring no bows.  I used burlap ribbon from Hobby Lobby (which was 30% at the time!).  This project cost $15.  Not too bad.  {Burlap wired ribbon, plain wreath, white buttons} {I wrapped the burlap ribbon around the wreath and then hot glued the buttons on.} {Easy enough for me!} Happy...
