I would like to thank everyone for their sweet words and comments on social media regarding Katherine's eye surgery last week.  We appreciate all the kind words and prayers.  

We were busy recovering this weekend.  Recovering from eye surgery.  Recovering from a storm that took out our T.V..  Recovering from boredom.  

Since we couldn't really play outside because Katherine couldn't get any dirt in her eyes while they were healing, I had to get creative on how we passed the time.  This will be liberating I thought.  Just like the time my cell phone stopped working.  Being without a T.V. or cable or Netflix or DVD player won't be that bad.  We'll play and read books.  We lasted about an hour and a half.  Katherine kept  bringing me movies that she wanted to watch and throwing a fit when I explained to her that we couldn't watch a movie because the T.V. wasn't working.  "Fix it" she would say.  I'm trying I would think.  We couldn't go outside and Katherine had her heart set on watching her favorite movie.  I studied the T.V. manual so much that when Jason got home to look at it later that day Katherine said "Oh!  You're reading Mommy's book!"

It turns out that our T.V. is actually fine, but somehow the storm took out all of our devices including our cable box, Wii, PS4, and DVD player.  It's not been all bad.  Jason got his old Playstation 3 out so that we're able to watch Netflix and movies, and even dug out the really old Playstation 2.  Katherine may not be able to play "dance game" on the Wii anymore, but she can watch Daddy and Mommy play Guitar Hero on a super old gaming system.  "Oh play it again!" she says.  

Thankfully the weekend of limited outside time is over, and I've boxed up the now deceased electronics.  Until our new cable box arrives, we'll be outside in the yard.  I didn't realize how much I depended on the T.V. to occupy Katherine while I did things like cooked food or got dressed or used the bathroom.  I know.  First world problems.  Sometimes you just need Mickey to occupy your kid while you prepare lunch.  

We didn't go out in public much over the weekend because Katherine's eyes were still pretty red.  We did venture out briefly to get light bulbs and the clerk took one look at Katherine's eyes and literally gasped.  "Allergies?"  No. Surgery.  But thanks for making her feel good about how bad her eyes look.  So, we stayed in after that.  We baked cupcakes.  We walked the dogs around the neighborhood.  We played.   

Monday, we headed to the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park with my mom.  I would like to apologize to the patrons in the State of Deception exhibit who were trying to read and focus on the history of Nazi propaganda while my child cheerfully sang "Where is Mimi? Where is Mimi? I don't know.....I don't know......" as we wondered aimlessly looking for my mom.  

I would also like to apologize to the patrons of McAlister's Deli when. later that day, my child shouting "f**king! F**king!"  You see, when she gets excited about something her "fork" word turns in to....something else.  Luckily there were two men discussing the Bible sitting next to us.  

It's not really a productive day until someone poops their pants, and Katherine did not let us down.  We had an accident on the way home from lunch.  I hadn't seen a blow-out that bad in over two years.  It was the perfect end to a day that just never could get going.  But tomorrow is another day.   

Tomorrow is Tuesday and that means that we only have two more days of eye drops and eye ointment.  You'll find me celebrating when the last drop is dropped on Wednesday night.  I'm ready to put this eye surgery behind us.
