When we bought our first house a few years ago, we inherited an old antique wardrobe that was left in the basement by the previous owners.  It sat empty for a while, then eventually was filled with random stuff.  I really liked it, but never really found a purpose for it.  When we moved last December, I couldn't bare to part with it.  We hauled it to our storage unit, then later into our new house. 

I really wanted to use it for something, but it's rickety demeanor was obvious and I wasn't sure how much life it had left in it.  The wooden rod to hang things on was holding on by a thread, so I decided to turn the whole thing into a cabinet. 

After a little demolition, some paint, a little decoupage, and new knobs, my new cabinet was ready to go. 

Because it is in the basement (again), it made the perfect cabinet to house board games and puzzles.

Yesterday was Father's Day, and we spent as much of it with Jason as we could before he had to go to work later that afternoon.  Katherine proudly picked out a t-shirt for him from his favorite pizza place, along with a goofy Father's Day card featuring a dancing, singing toilet on it. 

Here's how our Father's Day went down:

7:30am - The calm before the storm

8:30am - Jason's Father's Day presents  (On a side note, have you ever seen a Mother's Day card featuring a toilet?  Probably not.  Dad humor.)

9:30am - Breakfast

10:30am - Church

11:30am - Jason's ready for lunch

12:30pm - Father's Day lunch at Jason's (and Katherine's) favorite pizza place

 1:30pm - FaceTiming with Papaw

 2:30pm - Time for a quick Sunday nap

3:30pm - Grandpa's Father's Day cake brought to you by Katherine's help and The Pioneer Woman's cookbook

4:30pm - Quick beverage stop

5:30pm - Time with Grandpa

Katherine was so excited about Father's Day.  She kept Jason's presents a secret for almost a whole week and only told him about them the day before Father's Day this year.  I couldn't ask for a better father for Katherine.  Jason is truly the best.  We love him so much and we're so lucky to have him! 

Aside from the St. Louis Cardinals basement (which we'll get to in a later post), a main selling point when buying our house was the (already established) playroom.  It's like it was tailor made for Katherine. 

Located in the basement, this beautifully decorated playroom is any little girl's dream.  We literally didn't have to do a single thing to this room, but fill it with all of Katherine's toys. 

Here's a look at Katherine's new playroom:












It of course never looks this clean, and pretty much stays in a constant state of chaos, but it's Katherine's room.  Most of her toys stay in this room instead of in her bedroom, making clean up a lot easier.   

Also, when we bought the house I never imagined we'd actually fill this room.  I didn't think Katherine had enough toys to fill it up.  I was obviously wrong.   

I'll admit that I'm new to the world of face primers, and I'll also admit that I'm no expert on make-up or skin care.  With that being said, I want to share a couple of products I've been using and how they've been working for me. 

I got the Smashbox primer as a sample at Sephora a while back.  I later found the Benefit POREfessional primer at Ulta and decided to try it to see which product I liked better. 

First up is Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer:

This clear, silky product may seem like it's going to be greasy, but it's really not.  It feels so light on my skin that I can't even tell it's there.  It was easy to apply and felt very lightweight.  Also, my make-up stays in place all day.  It is on the pricy side, which is a major downfall for me.

Next up is Benefit The POREfessional Face Primer:

This primer, while it still feels silky, almost has a look of a BB cream or tinted moisturizer.  It also felt super light and was easy to apply.  It blends well and was long lasting.  This primer is slightly cheaper than Smashbox.

With both products, a little goes a long way.  I used about a pea size amount each application.  I'm no stranger to Benefit products. I use several of their products and love them.  This was my first product to try from Smashbox.  Overall, I love them both.  I'll probably stick with Benefit due to it being slightly cheaper and because I love Benefit products in general.

As promised, it's June 1 and I'm back.  I took a short break last month because of miscellaneous items on our life to-do list, one being moving into our new house.   

First of all, how is it June already? 

Actually, I know how it's June already.  May was an absolute blur.  I don't remember most of it. 

I'll quickly enlighten you on how the month of May went down:

We took a trip to Branson the first week of May and met Jason's parents there.  Katherine got to visit Mommy's college (Missouri State), eat at Lambert's Cafe, go to a college baseball game, play miniature golf, see half of a Branson show, experience Silver Dollar City, and visit her favorite indoor water park. 









We were back in town just in time for Mother's Day.
Five days later, we closed on our new house and moved in that day.  Actually, we just moved our beds and clothes in that day.  Our actual stuff didn't arrive until the following Monday, so it was "picnics" on the floor until then. 

Three days after that was our nephew's high school graduation, so we made a super quick trip to see him walk across the stage.  We had to be back home the next day so that our new (and out-of-stock) refrigerator could be delivered. 
Katherine's end-of-year gymnastics ceremony was a few days later, where she officially graduated from "mommy-and-me" classes.

With everything officially back in our house and in our possession, we've spent the rest of every second of every day unpacking and getting things in order around the house.  We've tried out new churches in the area and we're attempting to get used to our new town. 

Katherine has been a real champ throughout this process.  A lot has changed for her, but her new swing set in her new backyard has helped her feel at home.  Her awesome new playroom hasn't  been too bad either.  She also received a warm welcome from the neighborhood kids, who she likes playing with. 

I'll slowly have pictures of the new house up at some point, once things calm down (if they ever do).  I've got tons of new projects to share as well as new recipes and such, so stay tuned.
