After redoing our new coffee table, it was time to do a side table.  I wasn't necessarily wanting the two to match, but looking similar was key.  I found the exact table I was looking for at a resale shop (where else?).   I wanted something simple, small, with some kind of storage underneath. 

(Please disregard the messy cords on the bottom of the table!)  I had to make sure it was actual wood and not particle board. I didn't even sand this piece, but I did use a spray paint with a primer.  I also used a sealer at the end.  Items that are going to have a lot of use (like the coffee table and side table) need a sealer or the paint will chip off eventually.   

"Living room furniture redo" project is almost complete.  I've just got to do something about the horrendous ottoman by the window that the dogs sit on.  It's on my mile-long to-do list.   

My mom was in town this weekend and as usual, there was a lot going on.  On Saturday was the bi-annual ballet performance at Jefferson Barracks.  It felt good to be back at ballet and back to my normal routine.  My mom watched Katherine while I "graced" the stage.

I like to make some kind of dessert when family is in town.  This weekend, I made a peach cobbler.  From scratch.  I insisted on using fresh peaches, not canned ones.  It turns out, I don't like peeling and slicing peaches.  I found a recipe for cobbler in an old cookbook and altered it slightly.  It turned out pretty well. 



I also made peach iced tea.  I probably overdid the peach thing a bit.  Oh well.  Happy summer!

Katherine went to her first Cardinals game this week.  It was a shining moment for her father.  He had been waiting for this day since...he found out I was pregnant.  Taking his first born to their first Cardinals game was a dream of his. 

Overall she did pretty well.  She took in the sites and sounds for the first inning or two, then she fell asleep.  ASLEEP!  She slept through the roar of the crowd and the loud squawking of the beer salesmen.  Amazing.

It was a perfect night for baseball.  What wasn't perfect was the outcome of the game.  Boo Cubs.  Oh well.  A Cardinal/Cubs game as your very first baseball game is not a bad way to start out. 

I know I say this each month, but I cannot believe Katherine is now three months old!  I'll probably continue to say this every month until she's a year old....then every year after that.  What an amazing three months it has been!  I can't remember what life was like without her.  I probably slept more.   

We took some three month photos last week.  She had a couple of super adorable outfits that I couldn't just let sit in the closet.  They needed to be seen by more than just me and the dogs. 






We had to take a break in between outfit changes.  The pressure of being a model was just too much.  After a snack and a nap we were back at it.  Mission accomplished.   

Let me start by saying what a wonderful father my husband Jason is.  He's wanted to be a father since the day we got married.  I was the one holding out.  Now that he is a dad, I think he has surprised everyone including me.   

Once Katherine was born and we were home, he helped with everything.  He was so in love with his daughter, and still is.  He gets up with her at night, he rocks her, he sings silly songs to her, and of course they watch baseball together. 

He's the best dad I could have asked for for Katherine.

We spent a whirlwind weekend in Kennett this past weekend.  My head is still spinning.  Katherine went swimming for the first time, but because the water was SO COLD it did not go as planned.  I saw this coming because she hates taking baths.  I knew if she hated being in a nice warm bath, she would hate being in a cold pool.  I was right.  But before she completely lost her mind, we did snap a few photos of her first pool experience.  She may have hated pool time, but at least she looked cute.  No summer trip to Kennett is complete without homemade ice cream.  My mom makes it every year and Jason and I both look forward to it.

I'm hoping when we go back in July the water will be warmer and she won't flip her lid when her toe touches the water.  The only good thing that came from this was her massive freak-out caused her to take a much needed nap. 

We're planning Katherine's first pool trip this weekend and I've had so much fun looking for baby pool items.  These are my picks for favorite baby girl pool essentials.    

1.  I love Aveeno Baby products.  They're my favorite for Katherine and for myself so it was no surprise that I picked up the Aveeno Baby sunblock on my last trip to Target.  
2.  This Carter's Hooded Swim Cover Up is perfect for before and after pool time.
3.  Of course, baby has to have something to float on.  I liked this Swimways Baby Float because it had a canopy.  
4.  Katherine's first swimsuit is this adorable pink and white polka dot one piece from Carter's.
5.  You can't go to the pool without some sweet shades.
6.  I can't hardly stand how cute these baby sandals are.  I mean seriously.
7.  To keep the sun off of our head and out of our eyes, we have a sun hat.      
8.  No pool trip is complete without an adorable baby beach towel.

I've been waiting to get Katherine in the pool since I found out I was pregnant last summer.  I have a vision in my head of her loving the water as much as I did, but I have a feeling the reality will be somewhat different.

We had a pretty busy Friday night.  Not in the traditional sense.  We had some pretty wicked weather, meaning that the girls and I spent Friday night hunkered down in the basement.  Jason was at work, so it was up to me to get the dogs, Katherine, and myself into the basement.  This was no easy task because Callie wanted to run to the window to see what was going on and Sammie wanted to run to her bed out of fear.

Once we were safely in the basement, Katherine decided it was the perfect time to throw up all over me.  Then she passed out and slept through the rest of the storm.  We thankfully had no damage to our house and Jason made it safely home from work several hours later. 

While we spent Friday night in the basement, we spent Saturday night outside on the deck. 



I'm so excited that it's finally summertime. 

During the spring and summer months, our house is decked out in Cardinal red. I made a St. Louis Cardinals wreath last summer that lacked the quality I had hoped for.  It was actually a little goofy looking.  After scouring Pinterest during the last few days of my pregnancy (when I actually had time to look at Pinterest!), I found a couple of cute ideas for a new wreath and combined them.

It only took me two weeks to get this project finished. Not to mention, I'm not a good wreath maker and I'm a horrible bow maker.  I had to enlist help with some of the bows.  It's like the time I tried crocheting.  I tried and tried and literally could not do it.  I'll have to keep working on the bow making.  I can sew just about anything.  Why can't I make a stupid bow?  Anyway......this is the finished wreath.


I hope there's lots of summer fun ahead for Katherine's first summer...and no more tornadoes.  Go Cards!
